Yields: 12 rolls Prep time: 30 minutes Cook time: 25-30 minutes

Ingredients:

For the dough:

  • 1 (1/4 ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water (105-115°F)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

For the filling:

  • 16 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries

Instructions:

  1. Activate yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and 1 teaspoon sugar. Let stand for 5 minutes, or until foamy.
  2. Make dough: In a large bowl, whisk together milk, egg, remaining sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir in yeast mixture. Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead dough: Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  4. First rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, turning to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Make filling: In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Stir in sour cream.
  6. Roll out dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough into a 12×15-inch rectangle.
  7. Spread filling: Spread cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border. Top with blueberries.
  8. Roll up: Starting from a long side, roll up dough jelly-roll style. Pinch seam to seal.
  9. Slice and place: Cut dough into 12 equal rolls. Place rolls, seam-side down, in a greased 9×13-inch baking pan.
  10. Second rise: Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
  11. Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  12. Cool and serve: Let cool in pan for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Tips:

  • For a richer flavor, use a combination of white and brown sugar in the filling.
  • You can also add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the filling for additional flavor.
  • If you don’t have fresh blueberries, you can use frozen blueberries, but thaw them completely before using.
  • To make mini blueberry cheesecake rolls, cut the dough into smaller pieces before rolling.
