Garlic Rosemary Crusty Loaf 🍞🧄🌿

A beautifully crisp, golden-brown artisan-style bread infused with the warm flavors of garlic and rosemary. This no-knead recipe is easy and perfect for beginners!

Ingredients:

  • 3 ½ cups (440g) all-purpose or bread flour
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp active dry yeast (or instant yeast)
  • 1 ¾ cups (415ml) warm water (about 100-110°F)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced or roasted and mashed
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped (or 1 tsp dried)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (optional, for extra flavor)
  • Extra flour for dusting

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Dough (No Kneading Required!)

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and yeast.
  2. Add garlic, rosemary, and olive oil (if using), then slowly pour in the warm water.
  3. Stir with a wooden spoon or spatula until a sticky dough forms. No need to knead!
  4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel and let it sit at room temperature for 12-18 hours (overnight is best).

2. Preheat & Shape the Dough

  1. Place a Dutch oven (or any oven-safe pot with a lid) in the oven and preheat to 450°F (230°C) for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, lightly flour a clean surface and gently shape the dough into a ball. (Be careful not to deflate it too much!)
  3. Let the dough rest on parchment paper for 30 minutes while the oven heats up.

3. Bake the Bread

  1. Carefully remove the hot Dutch oven and place the dough (with parchment paper) inside.
  2. Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes.
  3. Remove the lid and bake for another 10-15 minutes until the crust is deep golden brown.

4. Cool & Enjoy

  • Let the bread cool on a wire rack for at least 20 minutes before slicing.
  • Serve warm with butter, olive oil, or your favorite soup!
