Instructions
Step 1: Make the Chocolate Cake
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
- Slowly pour in hot coffee (or water), stirring until the batter is smooth.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 2: Prepare the Cream Cheese Frosting
- In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.
- Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing until light and fluffy.
- Stir in vanilla extract. If needed, add heavy cream for a softer, silkier frosting.
Step 3: Assemble the Cake
- Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a generous amount of frosting evenly over the top.
- Place the second cake layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.
- Smooth the frosting with a spatula and decorate with chocolate shavings, cocoa powder, or chocolate chips.
Step 4: Chill & Serve
- Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the frosting to set.
- Slice and enjoy your Decadent Cocoa Bliss Cake!
